Choppies contributes to academic improvement

With the aim of increasing academic excellence amongst pupils, Choppies Stores has donated five computers to Borakalalo Primary School in Molepolole.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Ms Tshegofatso Molosiwa, the executive marketing officer at Choppies, explained that they believed in investing in education.

“This partnership will accord us the opportunity to continue to lend a helping hand to this school as we are passionate about education. We hope that the computers will be used effectively and contribute to academic excellence,” she said.

Ms Molosiwa noted that it was not the first time they donated to the school, adding that in 2016 they donated three computers. She urged students to study hard and aim for a 100 per cent pass rate, noting that they would be using computers for their research and projects.

“I plead with you to be obedient to your teachers and work hard to achieve good results,” she said.

For her part, the chief education officer for Kweneng region, Ms Cecelia Sunday commended Choppies for assisting the school. “Such partnerships are vital and we appreciate them very much, and we hope that the computers will be effectively used to benefit pupils and the school at large,” she said.

She further urged teachers to cherish and use the computers for their daily teaching endeavours in order to improve academic performance among pupils. The school head, Ms Mothusi Gaoforwe expressed gratitude towards Choppies for choosing to partner with them.

“We have been operating with less computers and Choppies came to our aid. We are thankful that pupils will now have the opportunity to attend computer lessons with ease as we also have Internet connection,” said Ms Gaoforwe.

“In 2017 the Primary School Leaving Examinations results were 89.9 per cent and this year we want to hit the 100 per cent mark, and with the assistance of the new computers we are sure we will manage. Each and every pupil has pledged 80 per cent target for  the end of year examinations,” she said.  ENDS
